Research shows that parents feel unwelcome or uncomfortable in their children’s schools.

1 in 4 students with ADHD has other serious learning disabilities in one or more of these areas: oral expression, listening skills, reading comprehension, and math.

In 2011, the CDC reported that the percentage of children in the US who have ever been diagnosed with ADHD is now 9.5%.

On average, every classroom of 30 has 1 to 3 children with ADHD.

The average child diagnosed with ADHD has one to two negative interactions per minute with the people in their lives.

  • raising a child and being an involved parent can be overwhelming at times.

Many parents are faced with challenges and barriers that hinder student achievement. Likewise, student achievement suffers and the partnership between school, home, and students can become trivial.

“Every child needs a champion- an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be.”

    why the parent pal?

Because I get it! As the parent of a child with a learning disability and experience in education as a school counselor, I have a unique vantage point from both sides of the table.

Additionally, my extensive experience working with low income/high risk families has given me a clearer understanding of barriers involved when referencing parent engagement which often times is due to lack of understanding. The Parent Pal offers an organic experience that will empower parents to become intentionally engaged, educators to cultivate a culture that welcomes and invites parents to become involved, and community liaisons to understand their role in advocating for their clients.

Advocacy on the part of the school, the home, and the community has a significant impact on student success. I offer solutions to create partnerships and a firm foundation for student success.
