MLK Day 2016 Reflections

Each year we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the month of January. Communities and organizations come together and put forth a tremendous effort to reflect THE DREAM; a vision in the form of a narrative eloquently gifted to us by Dr. King. Below is a compilation of some of the words and wisdom imparted yesterday at each of the events I attended. May it impact you just as it did me and push you toward living THE DREAM in 2016.

-Matthew 20:28a KJV

“Will you simply wait for change?”
-Emily Schafer, Founder of 3degrees Mentoring

“The foundation of the moutaintop was built in the valley.”
-Crystal Irby, Spoken Word Artist

“Good enough should never be good enough.”
-Allen Smith, President Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce

“You cannot hate anyone who’s story you know.”
“Dr. King’s legacy is something to be lived.”

“Your talent multiplied by your service is your purpose.”
